What if writing was never the job?
Every post you have read this week, I did not write the first draft of. I wrote the brief: which topic, which real thing to ground it in, which numbers are off limits. Then I read what came back and decided if it was true and if it was good enough to go out under my name.
That is the actual skill, and it took longer to learn than writing would have. Writing is a skill you can judge while you are doing it. Delegating is a skill you can only judge afterward, by looking at the output and asking one question: is this actually right. Not “does this sound like me.” Right.
The reframe that made this work was small. Stop asking “can I write this faster myself.” Start asking “can I check this faster than I can write it.” Almost always, yes. A wrong fact is easy to catch. A blank page is not.
I still approve every word before it goes out. Nothing here publishes on a draft alone. But the hours went from writing to reading, and reading scales in a way writing never did.
